Dear families and friends,
As Christmas approaches, we thought it would be nice to set the children of our school a challenge. In the grounds of St Thomas the Martyr Church there will be a QR code to find and scan which will lead to discovering the real meaning of Christmas. As you enter the Church grounds, opposite the White Lion Inn, you will find, attached to a tree, the initial poster to get your journey started. Once you have found the first poster – you need to search within the Churchyard and find the first QR code, which has a sheep on it! Scan it with your phone and it will take you to a video telling the nativity story. Each code will be in the Church grounds for a week and will change every Monday for 3 consecutive weeks. Once you have watched all three videos, you will find a secret letter hiding in the background of the video somewhere; these letters spell out a word, which you need to enter upon clicking on the “WHO IS THE SPECIAL BABY” white tab on the final video.
The idea behind the hunt is to spend a little time at the weekend with your adults walking within our beautiful Church grounds and discovering the true meaning of Christmas.
May I stress that all clues will be hidden within the Church grounds and not on the road, car park or inside the Church itself.
I hope you have fun looking for each QR code, which will require a smart phone to access the videos, and may I ask children who do spot the hidden poster to leave it where they find it as the Churchwardens will remove it and hide the new poster for three consecutive weeks.
This is what the first clue looks like and it will stay in the Church grounds until Monday 8th December when it will be removed and replaced by the second clue. This will be hidden in a different spot in Church grounds and will remain in place for the following week to be removed on Monday 15th December when the final clue will appear – happy hunting!
