On Wednesday 5th January, the Year 6 had the amazing opportunity to visit the Palace of Westminster, albeit virtually, and discover more about democracy and it’s beating heart. They met with two specialists, who had a wealth of knowledge to share about the building, it’s history and the people who work there. We learned how the House of Commons and House of Lords came to be established, the involvement of the Monarch and the interesting game of ‘Parliamentary Ping Pong’ that occurs as bills are made. Year 6 generated some amazing questions, which have been sent to our local MP, Rosie Cooper.
