Miss K. Pugh
Mrs. J. Hynes
Welcome to Year Three! I am Miss Pugh and our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Hynes. I am very proud of the children in Year Three. They have made an excellent start to the year and I am sure they will continue their hard work throughout the spring and autumn terms.
In year three we have Maths and English every morning and topic subjects in the afternoons. In addition we have daily SPAG (spellings, punctuation and grammar) sessions and guided reading sessions. P.E takes place on Tuesdays and swimming lessons will take place on Fridays, at Nye Bevan, during the spring and summer terms. Details of the year three curriculum are documented in full on our website and school app.
The children have reading books and journals; homework will alternate weekly from times tables practise to spelling lists. We would greatly appreciate any support you could offer at home. I look forward to a great year ahead with my current Year Three class!
RSPB Big Schools’ Bird Watch
Year Three participated in the
. We attracted the birds to our garden with a variety of seeds, whole meal bread and we even made our own bird feeders. Then we set up a viewing area by our classroom window to look out for different species of birds visiting our garden. We saw many different species including robins, black birds, magpies, house sparrows, wood pigeons, collared doves, coal tits, blue tits and more. We even had a visit from our squirrel friend! This was then recorded using survey sheets and a tally system. We will send off our results to the RSPB and await the outcome. We had so much fun taking part and looking after our nature!
