Mr. J. Purcell
Mrs. A. Scragg
Welcome to Upper Key Stage 2, Year 5. The teacher is Mr Purcell and Teaching Assistant is Mrs Scragg. In our classroom, the children thrive from the challenges set before them and work tremendously hard to achieve the best they can all do individually. We have a huge range of skills between us and love to share and support each other in all aspects of our school life. We have a fantastic philosophy to ensure all of our peers achieve as much as possible.
Our timetable consists of daily Maths and English lessons followed by reading and either topic or science work. Each term we cover a different topic journey from our three: Romans, Mayans and Rainforests. During our topic work, we use skills from all of our subjects such as: Geography, History, Art, DT and Music. Our spelling focus changes each week and the children learn the rules throughout weekly English lessons before testing each other at the end of the week. Reading is also important to us and we expect three reads per week in order to qualify for treat time on a Friday afternoon.
Our PE slots are Tuesdays (Indoor Athletics) and Fridays (Swimming).
If you would like any more information please do not hesitate to contact school for an appointment and keep an eye out below for some flashbacks of the activities we’ve been getting up to.
Mr Purcell & Mrs Scragg
Last week, Year 5 had the joy of visiting the grand city of DEWA (Or Chester to us Britons). They experience life in the Roman army with their very own centurion. Practising their manoeuvres in the roman gardens and scaring the locals, the children marched to the excitement of the Amphitheatre. Following an informative discussion on becoming a gladiator the children visited the museum and were able to handle some of the artefacts and dress like Romans themselves. A fabulous day with excellent behaviour.
