Welcome to Upper Key Stage 2, Year 5. The teachers are Mrs Beer and Mrs Davies and the Teaching Assistant is Mrs Taylor. In our classroom, the children thrive from the challenges set before them and work tremendously hard to achieve the best they can all do individually. We have a huge range of skills between us and love to share and support each other in all aspects of our school life. We have a fantastic philosophy to ensure all of our peers achieve as much as possible.
Our timetable consists of daily Maths, English and S.P.A.G. lessons followed by the foundation subjects. Each term we cover a different humanities journey from our three topics: Romans, Aztecs and The Maya. We use skills from all of our subjects such as: Geography, History, Art, DT and Music. Our spelling focus changes each week and the children learn the rules during weekly S.P.A.G. lessons before testing on Wednesdays. Reading is very important to us and we encourage the children to read either their school reading book or a book they are enjoying at home. We encourage children to learn their number facts and times tables and would appreciate support with this at home. There is also the opportunity for children to extend their topic knowledge through self-guided activities at home. Our PE session is on Monday morning with Mr Edwards. Please could your child come to school in their trainers on Mondays. The children will be swimming on Wednesdays afternoons. Please provide your child with their swimming kit on Wednesdays.
If you would like any more information, please do not hesitate to contact school for an appointment.
