Reception Class – Picture News Lesson

On Thursday 12th October 2023, the Reception children learnt that during October we celebrate Black History month! They learnt what History was all about, how things happened a long time ago and how we learn from these past events. We talked about Mary Seacole, who was a nurse during the war and helped soldiers when they were injured. The children had lots of fun pretending to be doctors and nurses, looking after patients just as Mary did.
They also participated in a maths activity – the children had to compare and measure different pieces of wool. In the writing activity, the children discussed jobs they may do in the future.
