Year 1 – Picture News on Disability

On Tuesday 6th February 2024, the Year 1 children learnt all about the amazing Mar Galceran, who was born with a genetic disorder. Mar Galceran is thought to be the first person to join a European or national parliament with a visible disability, and has spoken publicly to say she wants to be seen as a person and not for her disability. They researched some famous people who have overcome hurdles and due to their courage, determination and resilience, they have achieved their dreams and made a difference to so many people’s lives. Moving onto people who inspire us, the children had to think of someone who was special to them and think about how they made them feel.
They finished the lesson with the hymn ” Light up the fire” and a special prayer to thank those people who inspire us to be better people.
