Year 6 – Science Lesson – Heart Dissection

On Wednesday 27th September, the Year 6 children took part in a fantastic heart dissection and applied all of their prior learning to their practical investigation. The children listened carefully to all of the factual information about the structure of the heart and it’s important function in supplying the body with all of the vital elements required for respiration to occur. Following this, they took hold of their scalpels and dissected along the coronary arteries in order to identify the structures inside the heart, including: valves, strings, walls and four chambers. They asked some amazing questions and were able to confidently explain their findings once completed. An amazing afternoon of learning and memories made – Well Done Year 6!
